This striking poster for the Women's Royal Army Corps is a genuine original from the 1950's.

An excellent example of first class printing, the image in clean,bright colours shows a attractive young woman in the No1 Dress uniform designed for the corps after formation in 1949 by Norman Hartnell, dressmaker to HM The Queen.

Histotorical context:

The Women's Royal Army Corps (WRAC) was the corps to which all women in the British Army belonged from 1949 to 1992, except medical, dental and veterinary officers and chaplains (who belonged to the same corps as the men), the Ulster Defence Regiment which recruited women from 1973, and nurses (who belonged to Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps).

Condition: clean, crisp condition for its age having only a vertical and horizontal folds and barely visible pin holes at the corners.
