Valencia FC v England, Spain.

Valencia FC v England, Spain.

This beautiful original poster is from 1929, advertising a football match between Spanish club Valencia CF and the English National Team played at Mestalla Stadium, Valencia, on Monday April 15th, 1929. Two weeks later England played Spain and lost 4-3, the first time that England had been defeated on foreign soil, further information on this link:

The design for this poster was created and used for a number of years to advertise matches for the club when they played at home, with the green bottom area of the poster left blank for printing for each fixture. The thought of a club playing a national team seems bizarre nowadays, so this piece is a really wonderful insight into European footballing history. A stunning piece is good condition and maintaining its extremely vibrant colour is remarkable considering its near 100 year age.

Made in Valencia, Spain.
