Sonar Music Festival/Maradona. Spain.
Original Spanish poster. In 2002, Diego Armando Maradona became the official image of the Sónar Festival in Barcelona — not as a financial sponsor, but as the face of the festival's advertising campaign. It was one of the most iconic and unexpected collaborations in the history of electronic music festivals.
The idea was to reinforce Barcelona's image as a contemporary cultural epicenter, linking it to a world-renowned figure who would represent the festival as an "anti-hero" in tune with the avant-garde spirit of Sónar.
Maradona expressed his joy at being involved with an activity that attracted young people and allowed him to symbolically reconnect with the city where he shone in football.
The official images showed him in relaxed, everyday poses: reading the festival catalog, on a deck chair.
The shoot was—according to several witnesses—quite chaotic: multiple locations, TV crews, schedule and location changes, and Maradona's unpredictable nature.
Step into history with an original poster featuring the one and only Diego Armando Maradona— not just a football legend, but a global icon of rebellion, art, and spirit. This is not just a poster. It's a tribute to a man who defied the rules — on and off the pitch.
