Mexico ‘68, Mexico.

The posters for the 1968 Games served to promote every aspect of the Games and the Cultural Program of the XIX Olympiad. All together, 159 different posters were created for the Games and they quickly became coveted souvenirs.

There was an additional set of 18 sports posters created for these Games that this original poster belongs to. Mexico City was the first Latin American location for the Games. These were the Games at which Dick Fosbury introduced to the world the "Fosbury Flop" in the men's high jump. This is also the Olympics where Bob Beamon set the men's long jump record of 29 Ft. 2 ½ in. This jump beat the previous record by 21 ⅔ inches and would last for 22 years.
