The Spectre of Sex Appeal /Dali. Spain.
Original Spanish poster to promote cultural Spanish tourism through a work of art by Salvador Dalí.
Scene depicts "The Spectre of Sex Appeal" (also known as "The Spectre of Libido" or "The Torso"), from 1932. This painting is a surrealist work exploring themes of sexuality and the subconscious. It features a monstrous, soft-and-hard figure symbolizing sexuality, observed by a child-like Dalí in a sailor suit. The prominent crutches in the painting are interpreted as symbols of death and resurrection in Dalí's work. The painting is set against the backdrop of Cap de Creus, a hyper-realist landscape from Dalí's childhood.
You can see Jon Miró's sun in the right bottom corner (last picture). It is the first abstract symbol that has been used to identify a country. A simple drawing, with quick strokes and in three colors, yellow, red and black, has served to turn this image into one of Miró's most recognized works.
This isn’t just a original poster. It’s a portal into the surreal mind of Salvador Dalí—visionary, rebel, genius.
